The Isis Group was founded by Laura M. Hales, a Ph.D. scientist and business professional with more than twelve years experience in the startup biotech industry. She has held senior scientific positions at several startup biotech companies, and is an entrepreneur herself, having co-founded two startup biotech companies in addition to The Isis Group.
Dr. Hales has scientific expertise in a broad range of areas in the biomedical and life sciences arena including molecular biology, immunology, oncology, immunotherapy, biologics drug discovery, microbiology, virology, infectious disease, target identification and validation, biomarkers, and translational research.
She received her B.S. at the University of Rochester and completed her Ph.D. at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Following an NIH-funded postdoctoral fellowship at Columbia University, she was one of the first five employees at Purdue BioPharma (now Purdue Pharma), and was the second employee at the biotech startup company Neotropix, Inc. She is a coauthor on multiple publications, and an inventor on one issued patent with several other patents pending. She is a co-founder of two startup biotech companies - Tracertech, Inc. and Extend Biosciences, Inc. (www.extendbio.com). Since founding The Isis Group, she has provided consulting services to several entrepreneurs and academic professors looking to start a biotech company.
